This is a Great unit. Unlike similar products this one has a blower that works. It makes my summer flying in Arizona possible.

Best thing since sliced bread. In the summer heat in Georgia b-kool makes flying fun. And to top it off , the unit works well in my boat. I plan to use it both places.

Recently purchased a B-Kool for my Mooney. Never thought something like this would work in the humidity of Houston but the unit works as advertised. I would not have believed it but it works great.

Concept is good but cooling does not last long and insulating ability of the ice chest, which I believe is an igloo, is poor. Probably is to keep weight and size to a minimum. There needs to be a dispersion baffle at the end of the outlet tube

Works great! Flew for @1 hour with unit on- just to test it. Had half ice left. Gonna need it this summer in South Carolina.

This unit actually has a radiator that circulates cold water thru and works much like a real A/C unit. I find it is good for about an hour in 100 degree Sacramento hot weather. I have a Citation and use it to pre cool the cabin. I also use it for many other applications with a portable battery.

Bottom line: It works! But, it could use a few improvements to make it better and more user friendly. 1. The handle hits the blower tube when lifting the unit into the plane. That tends to knock off the blower tube, which is a hassle to re-attach. 2. A hose clamp is needed to keep the tube connected to the unit, and should be added. 3. The outlet tube itself could use the addition of a louvered deflection screen to direct and adjust the flow of cold air. 4. The fan needs a protective screen for the interior part of the unit, so that ice doesnt hit and damage the fan in turbulence. 5. Some tie-downs spots need to be added to help keep the unit from moving about and changing the CG. I tried attaching some bungee cords to the handle, but the handle came off! 6. Surprisingly, the unit ships WITHOUT any user guide or operating documentation! I emailed the company, and they immediately sent the 1-page document to me. ++++++++ I first tried-out the unit in a 100 degree hangar, with the doors and windows of the Bonanza closed. It was immediately comfortable inside the airplane!!!! I then worked with the avionics (which adds heat) and during the whole time, it felt like I had the AC on in my Mercedes! Cool refreshing air! Would I recommend this unit? YES! Could it be made a little better without much effort? Definitely.

This cooler is amazingly great at cooling the cockpit in high heat/humidity conditions. You do not need the remote control if your electrical plug is in arms reach on your dash as the on/off toggle switch is right on the plug. Note that 20 lbs of cubed ice is all the unit will hold or the ice will impede the fan. Even at twenty lbs you will have to relocate ice away from the fan housing. I stopped in Georgia on a flight to Florida and spent the night. Much to my surprise 12 hours later and the unit still had ice in the water, and temps were in the 90s! I busted a fan blade (my fault) and call b-kool and they sent me a replacement blade at no charge! Keep your fingers away from the blade! It hurts a lot and the unit is very loud with a broken blade.

When I was looking for a cooler/air conditioner, my number one concern was the size. I have a C150 and all of the others that I saw that friends of mine had were too big. This one is perfect for the small airplanes. I wasnt sure when I ordered it as the write-up didnt address the aircraft it would easily fit into. I ordered it because of the measurements. So, if you have a small aircraft, this s the cooler for you.

Does what it says it does. I mount it in the baggage compartment of my 182 and turn it on while Iâ??m pulling her out of the hangar. It makes startup, taxi and run up survivable in Florida in August! It eats through ice in these conditions but I generally only have it on during taxi and take off and then again for approach, landing and taxi. I think it would last longer with solid block ice rather than the cubes I have been using. Only critique is that the switch does get quite warm while in use. The cable is long enough to get from the baggage compartment to the front of the plane without issue. I use a portable battery pack to run in though. Overall a game changer for summer flying, especially with the wife and kids.

This works great if you follow the instructions and have realistic expectations. Is it the same as an Arctic Cool, 50 pound air conditioner plumbed in and a 100 amp alternator, no. Will it cool you at 2500ft MSL for 3 hours, probably not. Will it make you descent from altitude to the airport, or your ground time, runup, and ascent to cooler air more pleasant - ABSOLUTELY. My wife and I use this in our Saratoga. We will freeze 1 liter bottles with water to make large blocks of ice, and we only use about 32 ounces of water in the bottom of the cooler. Turn on the master and turn it on about 3 or 4 minutes before we jump into the cockpit while finishing up our pre-flight. Makes those days on the apron in Texas much more pleasant to get into the plane. Runup and takeoff, keeps us from sweating and keeps us comfortable. We get above the cloud deck where the humidity is lower, anywhere from 7,500 to 12,500 depending on winds, temps, etc and we turn it off. Holds the blocks of ice cold and doesnt melt much as long as the unit is not running because the water is no longer circulating through the pump and through the radiator. When we begin our descent, reverse the process. About 2 minutes before descending below the cloud deck (where the humidity rises), turn it back on and let it run all the way through shut-down. Wife loves it because she can get out the plane with headset hair, but at least she doesnt look like someone threw a bucket of water on her. Reading some of the previous comments, I emailed over to Bob at B-Kool to see if he suggested that I get a fan guard to install on the inside of the unit. After trying it, I dont think that is necessary...just dont open it while the unit is running. I took out one of the rear facing seats of our Saratoga and put the unit directly behind the pilots seat. Seatbelt around the unit and through the handle and it secures it nicely. This allows the output hose to go right between the pilot and co-pilot seats and makes the front of the plane much more comfortable. In a 6 place Saratoga, it probably doesnt do a whole lot for the far rear seats, but most of the time it is just me and the wife and lots of luggage, so that is a non-issue. Given how cold it blows and the amount of air, imagine it would work great in the very back of a 172 or 182 sized aircraft. Bobs response to my initial email was super-fast, so I rank the manufacturer customer service a 5 also. Aircraft Spruce Team - if you had the ability to upload pictures of how this fits in a Saratoga, I would happily upload here so people could see it. Saratoga, Lance, and Cherokee 6 owners, this will fit directly behind the pilots seat oriented in any direction you want with a little room to spare, even with the center console installed.
