Overview

Cessna models 152, A152, F152, FA152 and 172RG aircraft may have various flap track rib assemblies installed. If flap track rib assembly part number 0523231-23 is currently installed, then McFarlane part number MC0523231-14 must be used to replace the flap track. If flap track rib assembly part number 0525001-1, 0525001-1S or 2425001-1 is currently installed, then McFarlane part number MC0525001-2 must be used to replace the flap track. (Information from eligibility Note 5.)

Flap track rib assembly 0523231-23 includes a 0.16 inch thick flap track with no lightening hole. Flap track rib assemblies 0525001-1, 0525001-1S and 2425001-1 include a 0.25 inch thick flap track with a 2.25 inches lightening hole located between the flap roller slots.

The early thinner model flap tracks manufactured by Cessna were varied over three track assembly P/Ns 0523231-13, 0523231-21, and 0523231-23, two of which had 30 deg of travel and one had 40 deg of travel. Cessna has superseded all three P/Ns to the 0523231-13 assembly model (40 deg) for various 150 thru 180 aircraft applications. McFarlane has followed Cessna's lead on this, as having extra flap travel will not effect those aircraft with only 30 deg of travel. Your flap rollers, regardless of having 30 deg or 40 deg of travel, should never bottom out in the flap slot as the rigging and/or bell cranks should limit the movement prior to contact of the two parts. If you have a 30 deg track the installation instructions on the ICA are still applicable, you will place a pin in either end of your 30 deg track and align it with the forward end of the new McFarlane slots and the aft end pin will be in the middle of the flap track. You will then transfer the rivet holes and complete the installation instructions.
