Overview

SunSpot LX is designed as a LED drop in replacement for the existing GE4509 PAR 36 aircraft lights. SunSpot LX is available in a landing or taxi light. SunSpot LX landing light projects 65,000 candela using 45 Watts/3 AMPs max of power. SunSpot LX taxi light projects 15,000 candela. Mounts with existing ring clamp.

Power consumption: 45 Watts Max; Current Draw at 14VDC: 3 Amps Max Available in taxi or landing lights. Clamp Mount: Par 36 Ring Clamp.

SunSpot has the same great design features as other aircraft light designs:

Over-temp Sense Protection
Low-voltage Sense (shuts down half the LED's in emergency, low voltage conditions)

They strongly recommend adding the Pro-tech lens coating which comes with a lifetime warranty on the lens for damage caused from rocks and debris. PMA'd.

Carsten 10.01.2018	Installed the landing light in my RV-7 experimental. As with all LED lights, there is no comparison with light output (and reliability predictions) of LEDs versus the older types. On approach I could see the RWY numbers clearly approx 1/2 mile out. Only ding here is the price. At $344 it is much more expensive than for example the Wheelen. Had I found them earlier I would have bought them. Im buying a taxi light LED now, itll be the Wheelen due to price.
Jeff 17.05.2017	I did a lot of research and settled on this product after watching side by side YouTube video comparisons. Easy installation dramatic difference in performance. Very pleased with purchase after one night flight.
Peter V 04.10.2014	tried one of these along with a TeleDyne Alphabeam in taxi and landing lights on a Cessna 210. Sunspot has a narrower spot on the landing light compared to the Alphabeam. It may be a bit brighter in the spot, but the Alphabeam is plenty bright and has a hardened lens cover which costs extra on the Sunspot. Ended up putting two AlphaBeams in both Taxi and Landing lights and returned the Sunspot which saved a hundred bucks.
Derek E 13.10.2019	Super easy to install in a Piper PA-28 as a landing light job completed in approximately 5 minutes. Brighter and delivers more diffuse light than the original GE bulb, but not offensively bright to nearby people or aircraft. Consumes far less energy than the original GE bulb and, most importantly, can be left on constantly to improve your overall visibility. Worth the expense.

We are a flying club and purchased the landing light 2 years ago for a different plane and have been very pleased with the durability, as well as, the brightness. Therefore, we purchased and installed this landing light for the second plane.
Darryl 21.07.2020	High quality, good fit. Appears to be much brighter than the incandescent it replaced. Product suggestion: on my Cherokee 140, the rubber gasket is deteriorated, and IÃ¢??m having difficulty finding a replacement. Perhaps suggesting common gaskets would be good as a co-purchase.
